David Daniell, media consultant, IMB, Middle America (retired): ddaniell@comcast.net

David Daniell, media consultant, IMB, Middle America (retired); director Missionary Broadcasting, Inc. Mobile, AL: ddaniell@comcast.net

My wife Lorna and I retired Nov. 1, 2003 after almost 38 years with the International Mission Board. I have been in broadcasting for 48 years. I've worked as announcer or reporter for WTAW, Bryan-College Station, TX; KBTX-TV, Bryan, TX; KTHT, Houston, TX; KRYS and KTOD, Corpus Christi, TX; and WBAP-AM-FM-TV, Fort Worth-Dallas, TX.

From 1966 until 2003, I was a media missionary in Mexico and from 1983, IMB media consultant in Middle America as well. I helped launch Radio K'ekchi' in Guatemala where Lorna and I lived 1987-88 and Radio Bautista, Managua, Nicaragua in 1992. I have produced religious radio and video drama and documentary. My two made-for-TV dramas are "En Sombra de Muerte" (In the Shadow of Death) and "Vidas Cruzadas" (Mixed Up Lives). I am programming and broadcast management consultant to the 20 Baptist radio stations in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Lorna was part-time professor of Christian education and graphic arts at Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary, Lomas Verdes, Estado de México. She is popular conference speaker and Sunday school teacher. From 1998 to late 2002, she was team leader of Team Naucalpan. She still gives direction to the team even in retirement. That involves coordinating cells or house churches in the poor neighborhoods of Naucalpan in northwest metropolitan Mexico City.

I graduated with a B.A. degree in journalism from Texas A&M University in 1959 and a Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1962. Lorna graduated from the University of Corpus Christi (now Texas A&M at Corpus Christi) with a B.A. degree in religious education and earned her M.R.E. degree from Southwestern Seminary in 1966 with other post-graduate studies in education from Texas Christian University and the University of Houston.

Lorna and I lived in Mexico City from 1968 to late 2002 except for a year in a little Indian village in Guatemala in 1987-88 and in Panama for three months in 1992 when I served as interim editor of El Eco Bautista.

We are the proud grandparents of Benjamin David Knight, 13, Gabrielle Knight, age 9; Stephen Knight, 2; Ethan Forrest Daniell, age 11, Josiah David Daniell, 9; Emalyn Joyce Daniell, 6; and Judson Crede Wilson Daniell, age 2.

Our daughter Rebecca Marie Knight, lives in Boone, NC. Our son, Forrest and his wife, Emma live in Daphne, AL—across the bay from Mobile where he directs his architectual firm, Forrest Daniell & Associates. In retirement, we reside in Mobile, AL where Lorna is employed by the Mobile County Public School System as liaison between schools and Hispanic migrant families.

Besides being director of Missionary Broadcasting, Inc., I am interim pastor of a small congregation of Hispanic Christians.

Larry Baysinger, retired engineer, WHAS, Louisville, KY; Tele/FAX #: (502) 231-0723; Email: w4eja@bellsouth.net

Larry is an exceptionally-talented broadcast engineer who had never been outside the United States until 1992 when he responded to a need at Radio K'ekchi' in Guatemala.

His life has never been the same since! He has returned to Guatemala numerous times--and to Honduras and Panama--and has been a tremendous resource person to locate hard-to-find transmitter tubes and other parts. He has the gift of building transmitters and finding used audio equipment and reconditioning it for use in missionary radio. He and his wife, Mary, are members of a Baptist church in the Louisville area.

He holds a lifetime professional engineer's certification by the Society of Broadcast Engineers and is the officially certified FCC Alternative Inspector for the West Virginia Broadcasters Association. For over 40 years he was assistant engineer of WHAS and its many affiliated stations.

After he took early retirement in 2001, Larry served as engineering consultant for WJCR WorldWide Radio, a Christian short-wave and FM station in Upton, Kentucky that beams programming into Europe. In 2003, Larry became chief engineer for WJEI FM-SW in Louisville.

Larry has written articles for professional broadcast engineering journals and has put together a fascinating museum of vintage broadcast equipment that dates back to the 30's. On WJCR, he hosted a weekly Blue Grass radio program. He is the curator of a small broadcast equipment museum in Louisville and plays guitar and banjo. I feel very fortunate to call him my friend and brother in Christ!

George Franklin, engineer, Big Spring, TX Tel. (915) 267-2169; FAX: (915) 267-2169; Email: gfranklin@crcom.net

After a stellar career as a broadcast engineer in commercial broadcasting in West Texas, George stumbled into missionary radio in a providential visit to a ham radio flea market in neighboring San Angelo--he and Bonny live in Big Spring. Texas.

He and another ham who had done volunteer engineering work at Radio K'ekchi' struck up a conversation--and the rest is history!

Beside his many visits to Guatemala to work at Radio K'ekchi',George helped install Radio Bautista in Managua, Nicaragua in 1992. He and Bonny--members of First Baptist Church, Big Spring--have been generous supporters of missionary broadcasting. They are devoted co-laborers in Christ and I treasure their friendship.
