Current Volunteer Project Proposals – May, 2007

  1. Team of two communications engineers or technicians to re-install low-power AM transmitter at Radio Amistad in San Pedro La Laguna, Solola, Guatemala.
  2. Team of two broadcast engineers or technicians to donate and install a circularly-polarized FM antenna, kit and coaxial cable for Radio Alfa y Omega FM in Playa Grande, Quiché, Guatemala. They have one antenna and want another one to increase coverage in isolated rural area of northcentral Guatemala. Volunteers will need to consult with Larry Baysinger prior to project.
  3. Team of construction workers to add two sections to tower at Radio Bautista in Puerto Lempira, Gracias a Dios, Honduras. Additional tower height will increase coverage area. Puerto Lempira is extremely isolated and can be reached only by air. Workers also are needed to install the acoustics in the large studio using existing panelit (1/8”-thick asbestos substitute material).
